Harrah’s Donny Asmond an his production company, Donny Osmond Concerts Inc, are being sued on two counts of “negligence and negligent hiring, training, retention and supervision” by a woman from Illinois after she allegedly suffered injuries during a performance.
In the lawsuit, Joanne Julkowski claims that she received injuries during the show after being “struck in the back of the head by one of the lighted balls that had been thrown or propelled into the crowd”.
Julkowski alleges that the impact of one of the so-called “Donny Balls” caused retinal detachment in her right eye, leading to visual impairment, for which surgery was necessary. Allegedly, she also sustained injuries to her head and neck.
The lawsuit claims that the incident occurred at a concert in February 2024, during which the lights were temporarily dimmed “thereby reducing visibility for patrons and limiting their ability to perceive, track, and avoid the oversized, lighted balls moving through the crowd.”
These lighted balls, according to the lawsuit, could cause injuries if thrown with sufficient enough force.
Seeking Compensation for Injuries
For her troubles, Jukowski is seeking compensation in the form of $15,000, which includes a multitude of things, such as her medical expenses being paid, as well as coverage for the pain and suffering she has and will go through.
In addition to those, she is also looking to have her attorneys’ fees covered alongside punitive damages, lost wages, and loss of earning capacity, as well as any additional fees the court sees as necessary
